The flexibility of this layout makes it the best choice for families and groups. With both single bed and generous king bed configurations, you’ve got options. There’s plenty of room for your gear and loads of space to spread out in the lounge area at the end of your day.
The sleek integrated design of this motorhome means better road handling without sacrificing room for the family. The interior layout features multiple bed configurations. The two single beds in the rear can be combined into one king bed which is more than half a metre wider than most other motorhome double beds. You can use a drop-down double bed over the lounge for even more sleeping space. And if you’re concerned about storage, you can’t beat this motorhome.
Every Wilderness motorhome is a premium German designed and manufactured vehicle suitable for travel in all seasons. Each comes fitted with double-glazed windows, full insulation, heating, air conditioning in the cab, roof vents and latched windows with insect screens.

Do you need a motorhome with a flexible layout, multiple bed options and enough storage for your whole family? Our King/Twin for 4 is the best motorhome layout for families and groups.
Highlights |
The King/Twin for 4 features a flexible layout, which can be hugely beneficial while enjoying your New Zealand adventure with family or friends.
This motorhome’s interior has configurable beds that can accommodate your ideal sleeping arrangement. The two rear single beds combine into a king bed configuration — one that exceeds the width of most motorhome double beds by over half a metre.
If you prefer to keep the dining area free for entertaining or relaxing in the evening, one option is to set up a twin bed configuration in the rear. Kids or early sleepers can utilise these beds while the rest of your group can access the kitchen and spacious lounge area in this King/Twin for 4 motorhome.
Extra sleeping space is available on the motorhome’s drop down double bed with protective netting — which is stored above the dining area.
Check out our comparative motorhomes table to be sure you’re choosing the ideal Wilderness motorhome for group travel.
We rented the King/Twin for 4 motorhome on Boxing Day for ten days around the South Island. It was our first time driving a self-contained unit and the introductory session from Josie was clear and efficient. She was really patient with us and our two very excitable young kids.
The team set up the king bed at the back of the motorhome, per our request, prior to our arrival. The bed stays there throughout and need not be made every day — saving all the hassle we had in smaller-size campervans we drove six years ago.
As Asians of smaller build, we managed to sleep comfortably on the king throughout the trip with no issues. We did not use the double in the front of the motorhome at all.
The motorhome was new and clean. Towels, floor mats and utensils were all really clean and sufficient for our ten-day use. Every corner of the motorhome was well thought out and designed to be really livable for our family of four. The vehicle was easy to drive as well.
When we realised we had left our thermal flask behind after returning the motorhome, the team was kind enough to return it to a nearby airport hotel upon our request. We are really thankful for the team's help!
We will definitely come back to Wilderness again when we revisit New Zealand!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Peijun Liang — Wilderness King/Twin for 4 hirer |
You'll savour our largest motorhome bed if you hire the King/Twin for 4 and ask to configure the rear beds into the popular king size. Our king-size bed in this model measures 2m by 2m — making it a supersized resting and sleeping space to help you recover after adventurous days.
As a family of three or four with a very young kid, the king-size bed has enough room to share should your child prefer co-sleeping.
This is our first motorhome holiday, and we are so glad we booked with Wilderness.

Are you intending to travel with a lot of luggage or some of your favourite outdoor toys? Look no further than the King/Twin for 4. This motorhome features a rear gear storage compartment with the most space of any of our recreational vehicles. Your surfboards, bikes and golf clubs will easily fit.
The motorhome lounge area also feels like there’s loads of room for stretching out as the day comes to an end. The fridge freezer can store 156L of food and drink — which is the largest size we offer alongside the fridge freezers in our Double for 2 and Double for 4 motorhomes.
The ability to carry a significant amount of food and drink is a valuable asset if you want to freedom camp for several consecutive days.
We travelled around NZ for about 11 days in a Wilderness motorhome. You really do get what you pay for. These vehicles are incredible — very spacious, great amenities (like WiFi) and, important for me, excellent drivability.
The company is a pleasure to work with. We had our ferry cancelled to the South Island due to weather, without the ability to reschedule it. Wilderness was amazing in letting us return our original motorhome to Auckland. We took a flight to Christchurch, and they let us pick up another one there free of charge — the new one was an even bigger model with a king bed. Great to book through a company like that.
So, I have experience with the Compact for 2 and the King/Twin for 4 models — both of which are excellent and easily driveable. Highly recommend!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Louis Perkins — Wilderness King/Twin for 4 hirer |
The most useful privacy element of the King/Twin for 4 is when you want to put the kids to bed early so you can enjoy the rest of the evening. The rear bedroom can be easily partitioned from the dining area by using the toilet door.
This smart design function lets you unwind and socialise near the front of the motorhome while others can sleep in the rear.
Just recently returned home after another wonderful adventure in a Wilderness motorhome! This company and the vans are truly exceptional — I would give 10 stars if I could!
This was my third trip with Wilderness Motorhomes, travelling with my mum this time. I've now had the chance to try three of the different vehicles — the Compact for 2, the Suite and this time, the King/Twin share. Each one has been excellent.
The vehicle was perfect for us as a mother-daughter, allowing us heaps of space.
What Mum and I especially loved about the Wilderness experience was the special customer service we felt from everyone. Thank you especially to Sven for so patiently and cheerfully collecting us from the airport and carefully explaining all we needed to know about the van — even though our flight arrival time made it a bit late.
We love the quality of the van and all the space it offers. It has been so cleverly designed, with storage nooks and crannies everywhere. We also love the attention to detail and all the little extras.
The vehicles are great to drive and handle really well — even in the rain and wind we had during this trip.
Definitely hope to come back in the future! Thanks again for another great trip, Wilderness! 😀
